FA Butterscotch

Flavor Profile: FlavourArt is a company that does a really great job putting together flavorings that work well in vapor. And FA Butterscotch is no exception. I’m surprised at how nice the flavor is. It does nail that butterscotch flavor, but a different type of butterscotch, and not the thick velvety butterscotch we’ve all been looking for. I liken this more to a sharper, more thin butterscotch. One that comes in those pump coffee flavoring things. It’s almost like a butterscotch… Continue Reading

TFA RY4 Double

Flavor Profile: This flavoring is awesome, and has quickly found itself in my ADV’s after finding out exactly how to use it. The flavor of RY4 is interesting. The Ruyan Scale measure the level of tobacco in a flavoring. From RY1 being the more heavily tobacco based, up to RY4 which is less tobacco based and leans more towards caramel. RY4 Double I would assume is more Caramel x 2. This flavoring has a rich, deep caramel flavor that resembles the… Continue Reading

TFA Caramel Original

Flavor Profile: The flavor profile of Caramel Original is interesting. Now any kind of caramel or butterscotch for that matter has two states. And this is something I wrote about in an early edition of InTheMix Magazine. But these two states are the “soft crack” and “hard crack” states. Hard crack being that hard, more candy like, flavor, where the soft crack is that rich, creamy, and velvety flavor. When I go for a caramel, I’m almost exclusively looking for that… Continue Reading

TFA Dulce De Leche

Flavor Profile: Dulce De Leche is a creamy caramel dessert with a base of sweetened condensed milk. Sounds delicious right? Well before you go off and purchase this stuff, know that TFA didn’t quite nail the flavor profile down. TFA’s version is much more on the caramel side, and much like TFA’s caramel miss the mark in terms of authenticity. Now I’m not saying it’s completely off target, it’s not, it’s close. It’s just that TFA’s caramel often are a… Continue Reading

TFA Brown Sugar Extra

TFA Brown Sugar is one of the flavorings that people have been using since day one. One of the most popular ingredients in mixing easily. If you’re a new mixer, just put it in your cart because there will be a recipe you’ll want to mix that has this in there. But is it warranted? TFA Brown Sugar is an interesting ingredient that has an identity crisis. It’s not quite the brown sugar you’re looking for but it’s also not… Continue Reading

FW Butterscotch Ripple

FW Butterscotch Ripple is my favorite butterscotch to date. Is it because it tastes exactly like a thick soft crack butterscotch? No. Is it because it has the flavor of reminiscent of a butterscotch ice cream? No. It’s because I can actually use it without giving my recipes that “alcoholic” astringent flavor that often comes with authentic butterscotches like FW Butterscotch Natural. I’ve almost exclusively been using Butterscotch Ripple as my go to Butterscotch when ever a recipe calls for… Continue Reading

Triple C’s – Caramel Cream Cake

Creamy, Carmel’y, CakeySo it’s been a while since I have tried my hand at an original profile. I’ve been really into caramels and RY4 type flavors lately, but my heart still grows fond for a good ol’ cake recipe. This… Continue Reading

FLV Butterscotch

Butterscotch is a must have in any DIYer’s flavor stash. It’s properties allow the ingredient to take on many forms. A good butterscotch is one that can be blended in to a point where you taste nothing but it’s sweetness or standalone and encompass a thick and gooey feel followed by a rich and deep flavor. This is Flavorah’s Butterscotch and it is one of the good ones. I’m a huge fan of butterscotch. The silky and sweet flavor of brown sugar with… Continue Reading
