Adding CAP Sugary Cereal for Better Custards

Spike it!

In the last couple Live Mixing episodes, we’ve taken CAP Sugary Cereal and added them to our vanilla custard recipes. And to my surprise, it absolutely transforms them into extremely vivid and decadent vanilla custards. Both with great presence and great finish. The reason for this delicious addition, is that CAP Sugary Cereal tries its best to emulate “corn pops” and similar corn-based cereals. This provides a light, buttery corn note, that help boost the egginess a lot of custards lack. Now we’ve done this before with custards, however none of the other corn flavorings, like FA Corn, provide enough of a corn flavor, without it being too overpowering and sickly. CAP Sugary Cereal is that flavor, giving just enough corn flavor to help enhance recipes, but follows with a nice sweetness to help it pair with almost everything. There’s so much that CAP Sugary Cereal can do, and we’re only scratching the surface. Below are some of the recipes I’ve created using this awesome ingredient.

Vanilla Custard Cake | Live Mixing

Ingredient%
Bavarian Cream (Flavor Jungle)2.50
Cotton Candy (10% EM/Ethyl Maltol) (TPA)0.50
Custard Cake (CAP)4.00
Custard Premium (FA)3.00
Extra Sweet (CAP)0.50
Sugary Cereal (CAP)5.00
Vanilla Custard II (TPA)2.50
Yellow Cake (Flavor Jungle)2.00

This is the simple Vanilla Custard base that we made a few weeks ago. This recipe gives you the most unadulterated look at CAP Sugary Cereal within a custard. You’ll notice the delicious flavor it provides, but also some of the annoyances that can come up when doing so. While this isn’t a fully developed recipe, it’s an amazing custard with a great finish – however solving the slight dryness that comes from the cereal is a main priority.

Strawberry Custard Cake | Live Mixing

Ingredient%
Bavarian Cream (Flavor Jungle)2.50
Custard Cake (CAP)4.00
Custard Premium (FA)2.50
Dairy Milk (TPA)0.75
Extra Sweet (CAP)0.50
Green Strawberry (CAP)2.00
Sugary Cereal (CAP)4.00
Sweet Strawberry (CAP)2.50
Vanilla Custard II (TPA)2.00

This is the Strawberry version of the custard base. You’ll notice how the corn flavor still does come through, however the Strawberry becomes the main grabber of attention in this recipe. This does two things, it allows the corn note to provide more of an enhancing effect to the custard base – making it more authentic – but this also helps solve the dryness problem the vanilla version has. Because that juicy Strawberry fills in that otherwise dry top note.

Lemon Custard Cake | Live Mixing

Ingredient%
Bavarian Cream (JF)2.50
Custard Cake (CAP)4.00
Custard Premium (FA)3.00
Dairy Milk (TPA)0.50
Extra Sweet (CAP)0.50
Pandoro (FA)0.50
Sugary Cereal (CAP)4.00
Vanilla Custard II (TPA)2.50
Zesty Lemon (CAP)2.00

And lastly this is the Lemon version. While I think this recipe tastes and vapes great, I do think it needs some work. Mainly on the lemon side, as the way the lemon works with our custard base is very tasty. The same type of enhancing effect happens here, but because the Lemon is so punchy, any amount of dryness is removed and all thats left is a decadent lemon custard / tart recipe.
