FruityPebble Cheesecake / Rootbeer Guava? | Midweek Critique

Dampfer78 – New World

Review:

So in this recipe, first time victim Dampfer takes Rootbeer to a weird, interesting place. The idea was basically an abstract impression of Rootbeer. He utilized all FLV flavors, and decided to go Rootbeer float, but also add FLV Pink Guava. This gives the recipe an very interesting, unique, almost medicinal property. It does come across as somewhat moreish. If you’ve every had a Campari and Soda, it gives off the same type of vibe. Somewhat bitter, somewhat medicinal. But something you seek out. Unfortuantely, the recipe is just too light, and needs some work on becoming present. Nonetheless, I love rewarding new unique recipes.

Test5ubj3ct – Frooty Cheesecake

Review:

This is Test5ubj3ct’s first time on Midweek as well. He decided to release his Fruity Pebble / Fruit Circles cheesecake. One thing that these recipes fail on is presenting that “cheesecake” flavor, and often they just taste like cream or milk. Not in this case! There’s a really nice present cheesecake flavor, and its followed by a bright, vivid cereal note. I will say, it would be nice for more cheesecake, but it’s not non-existent. The flavor is great, saturated, no off-notes, and is accurate. Excellent work for a first time public recipe!

Final Score: 4 / 5

Slushy – Mint Oreo Cookies & Cream

Review:

Slushy is back on the show with his Mint Oreo Cookies and Cream recipe. The flavor is an attempt at exactly what the name entails. What I taste is a great mint chocolate chip ice cream. The Devon + Vanilla Custard creates an excellent base for the Creme De Menthe to produce an accurate and vivid mint ice cream. And the chocolate chunks do a good job at infusing some chocolate into the mix without distracting too much. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be much Oreo. It’s there, just not nearly as present as it should be. A bit more texture will solve this issue.

Final Score: 3.5 / 5
