3x Tobacco/RY4 Recipes | Midweek Critique

Falconn000 – Fools Gold (WINNER)

Falconn’s second time on the show brings us his tweak to the original submission, his Fools Gold recipe which is a take on my Obsidian mix. The original was a great RY4 blend that utilized a bit more bakery and sweet notes, compared to my recipe. But it ended up getting some muddled properties within the body of the vape, and needed a bit more clarity. This mix really improves upon that first recipe, bringing a lot more definition. The removal of FA Almond and Hazelnut allowing some more room for “texture”, and its all laid on top of the delicious RY4 base he’s built. Unfortunately, it’s now slightly mitigated by the vanilla profile added, which does weigh down the body a notch. So a bit more definition would really help. Overall, it’s excellent.

Final Score:

4.25 / 5

JBitts – Dad Dessert

Jbitt’s first time on the show, and he gives me his “Dad Dessert” for review. This mix takes the very unique Reka Dark Tobacco, and infuses it with some light bakeries like CAP Sugar Cookie and Vanilla Pudding. The end result is a tasty mix, that’s hindered by the light, fluffy bakery notes included. First off, the Meringue really softens the profile for no reason. Secondly the Sugar Cookie adds a layer of fluff, along with the vanilla pudding, covering up the unique properties of the Dark Tobacco. While the profile tastes pleasant, it ends up vauge and uninteresting, which is sad considering how fun Dark Tobacco is. Needs to head back to the drawing board.

Final Score:

3 / 5

Bob_ohms2low – Caramel Apple RY4

Bob’s first time on Midweek, and he submits his Caramel Apple RY4. This takes VSO’s crisp Red Delicious apple, infuses some rich salted caramel and toffee, and finishes with a light RY4. The vape is pretty unique and interesting. The INW Horned Toffee adds an interesting dimension to the RY4, and the Apple’s tartness adds a nice layer on the top. Unfortunately, the Salted Caramel seems to add this artificial off-note that’s hard to ignore. On top of that, the flavor seems very top heavy, which is weird considering this is an RY4. I think more contrast will help define the ingredients a bit better, and removing the Salted Caramel will solve the issue with the off-notes. I like the direction, but I don’t like the execution

Final Score:

3 / 5
